The Art Institute of Chicago is one of America's oldest and largest museums. It contains over 300,000 pieces and covers European art, American and African-American art, ancient sculpture and much more besides. The American Art collection includes some of the most famous American works of art: Nighthawks by Edward Hopper and American Gothic by Grant Wood.
